Many of the community based organizations working at LAUSD high schools(champions, Impact People, Educare Foundation, Youth Policy Institute, KYDS, Boys and Girls Club, Centinela Youth Services, Lacers and more) offer free college tours as part of the afterschool experience. They typically run in march and April but could be offered more frequently if requested by student groups. We should post these events on the calendar and advise students how they can attend these free tours. Tours are offered by C5 and paid for by the district. C5 has some other great free resources about college acccess at http://c5yf.org/c/c5/content.asp?C=165&ID=1807

Also, students who meet financial requirements can get work this summer pd for by the Workforce development Act. A job is a great college application component. Look for your local workforce investment board (WIB). One example is http://www.layouthatwork.org/hirela/Welcome.html
